The problem
You arrive at a restaurant or venue ready to park yourself. The best spots by the door are coned off or filled with valet-stored cars. So you walk farther — or feel pushed into paying for valet.
Ironically, when the valet lot fills up, your car often ends up parked far away anyway. The “convenience” mostly serves the business’s curb appeal, not you.
We’re not anti-valet. Drop-off and pickup should stay close to the entrance. After that, valet cars should generally be stored in the less-convenient spaces — leaving ordinary front parking for people who park themselves.
